Heidelberg is a city full of international students. I love going there because it is full of life and cultural events.
Here is the castle at the top of the hill.
This is the Karl-Theodor Brücke bridge, also called “Alte Brücke”.
I found a few vegan places while I was shopping.
In the evening, we went to Red restaurant, a vegetarian place quite famous in the area. And I can now understand why: the restaurant is lovely decorated and the meals are very tasty.
I have to say, this reminded me a lot of Tibits, the veggie restaurant in London. Same principle: you go to the buffet and you pay per weight. All vegan items are clearly marked by the flower logo – and the choice is very good. I really love this restaurant and I hope to come back on a very regular basis 🙂
I was very pleased to have lunch at Le Potager du Marais in Paris – it was raining and I gratefully sat in this very cosy restaurant. The menu is 100% vegan and, I have to say, very tempting… so I went for the lasagna with spinach, which was the comforting food I really needed after 3 hours walking in the cold. It was tasty, warm and delicious. The salad was fresh with a perfect dressing.
The waiter was very friendly and I felt very welcomed. I’ll definitely come back!
I went for the weekend in Paris – I used to live there but I still enjoy visiting this wonderful city, full of lights and dirt. I went to “Le Pont des Arts”, always amazed by this amount of padlocks. Beautiful scenery but as you may know, this very old bridge is falling apart because of the weight.
Going to Paris means, to me, having a meal at Loving Hut in the 11th arrondissement. I love the place, the people and of course, the homemade and fresh vegan food. I was also pleased to see how packed it was on a saturday evening. Next time, I better book a table.

I was in Mannheim a few days ago and we really wanted to try this vegan restaurant, named after “Löwenzahn” which means dandelion.
Nice place based in a residential area. We ordered the gaspacho soup, very fresh and yummy, the risotto and the gnocchi. I did not like the risotto, am not sure why, maybe because of the herbs they used… but the gnocchi were wonderful.
Unfortunately, plates were too big so no more room for dessert… aarrgghh. Next time.
Heppenheim is a small village with lots of cute houses, typical buildings and fascinating streetlights.
There is also a fantastic Ice shop called “Coccola”: all homemade and fresh ice-creams. Lots of vegan choices and I have to say, it feels great to be able to have a delicious ice-cream when the weather is so hot.
